Official sources informed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for One Belt One Route OBOR Summit on May 12 to 15 while the PM inspected the construction work and briefed by NHA officials on the project.
Work on the 230 km M-3 commenced in February 2016 and is expected to be completed by March 2018. M-3 will connect with M-4 at Abdul Hakeem and provide an alternate & direct route from Lahore to Multan. The project will be completed with a cost of Rs. 148.654 billion.
The structures at M-3 include 08 interchanges, 08 bridges over major roads, 35 bridges over canals/minors, 60 underpasses, 201 Cattle Creeps and 705 culverts. 44% work on the project has been completed and as per the revised schedule, the project will be operational by March 2018 instead of initial completion schedule of August 2018.

PM Nawaz Sharif along with a delegate of key ministers and officials would be leaving for china on May 12 to attend the One Belt One Road Forum for international cooperation.
This forum would be from May 12 to 15 is aim to linking Asia, Africa and Europe would likely to be attending by the heads of state from some 28 countries while representatives of various international organizations and business people from over 110 countries would also attend the event.
Prime Minister would be accompanied by Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Kh.Muhammad Asif and other officials.
Chinese president Xi Jinping will inaugurate the summit, it has clear that President Xi was the driving force behind ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative to build a new silk rout to link Asia with Africa and Europe, for this aim investing millions of dollars on infrastructure projects.
During this summit it is expected that China will sign cooperative documents with more than 20 countries and more than 20 international organizations, said by experts.
China will work with countries along the route on action plans concerning infrastructure energy and resource, productions capacity and trade.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif will sign Memorandum of Understanding MOUs documents of China Pakistan Economic Corridor – CPEC Projects for the successful completion of under constructed and newly opened projects in Pakistan, which are important part of the One Built One Route OBOR.
Meeting on One Belt One Rout Forum :
Islamabad: Minister for Planning Development & Reform, Ahsan Iqbal has announced that Pakistan and China would sign number of CPEC related agreements and memorandum of understandings during One Belt and One Road OBOR Forum scheduled to be held in Beijing.
He expressed these views while talking to media men during his flight to Beijing for OBOR Summit, China to participate in the Belt and Road Forum to be held on 14-15 May 2017, aimed at regional development through win win cooperation.
Delegation is headed by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharief, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal is part of this Pakistan’s high level delegation,
The delegations who arrived Beijing for OBOR Summit, included; Shahbaz Sharif Chief Minister of Punjab, Pervaiz Khattak Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sanaullah Zehri Chief Minister of Balochistan and Murad Ali Shah Chief Minister of Sindh.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Railways Minister Saad Rafique, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir, State Minister for Information Technology Anousha Rehman and PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz also accompanied the prime minister.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that CPEC is the flagship project of One Belt One Road Summit. “CPEC is the first and the most important bilateral initiative of this forum” he remarked.
He said a number of agreements and MoUs related to CPEC projects are also expected to be signed on the occasion. He said singing of agreement on CPEC important project for Gwadar Port and CPEC Route is planned.
The project will be financed through an interest free loan from the Chinese government under CPEC. It envisages construction of 18.981 km 4-lane divided expressway with embankment for 6-lanes structures, integrating Gwadar Port with the Makran Coastal Highway as well as with the free zone and future container terminals.
Ahsan Iqbal further said that signing of New Gwadar International Airport project agreement is also expected during this important forum.
This mega project envisages construction of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), along with allied facilities for new airport that will be capable of handling a combination of ATR 72, Airbus, (A-300), Boeing (B-737) and Boeing (B-747) for domestic as well international routes.
Ahsan Iqbal further told that signing of the MoU on the implementation of Pakistan’s Railway’s up gradation of ML-1 project is also planned. “It will help in rehabilitation & up-gradation of Karachi-Lahore Peshawar to Landi Kotal (ML-1) Railway Track” he added. He said that implementation of this project will allow increase of train speed upto 160 kilometer per hour.
The project is being implemented with the cost of 8212 Million US Dollars. It will help in transportation of heavy cargo from Gwadar and Karachi to Khunjrab and vice versa. Construction of Havelian dry port is also planned under this project which will meet the demand of containerized future freight traffic in connection with Pak-China Economic Corridor.
